Mission

The Language Stars mission is to revolutionize how and when American children learn foreign language to foster a future generation of multilingual Americans.

Language Stars makes learning a second language fun for preschoolers, toddlers, and elementary school children.  Your child will learn Spanish, French, German, Italian and Mandarin Chinese through an engaging mix of games, songs, puppet shows, arts & crafts, cooking projects, treasure hunts, movement and drama, all in the foreign language. Our unique FunImmersion® method is the best way for kids to enjoy learning a foreign language.

The Language Stars program is designed to focus solely on a child's “Window of Opportunity”, between birth and adolescence, to absorb a foreign language naturally.

Language Stars offers play-based, full immersion programs in small groups of 4-8 children in Spanish, French, German, Italian and Mandarin Chinese in three exciting formats:

Parents & Tots

Toddlers and parents or caregivers learn a second language together, absorbing the foreign language through a developmentally appropriate mix of movement, songs, puppet shows, art projects and more, presented entirely in either Spanish, French, Italian, German, or Mandarin Chinese.

Language Learning For Toddlers, 1-3 Years:

Where possible, we will tailor our programs toward separate 12-24 month and 2-3 year age groups.

Foreign Language Classes For Kids

Children climb the Language Stars Learning Ladder, building valuable foreign language skills with each step up. Children absorb the foreign language through interactive games, arts & crafts, drama, puppet shows, singing, cooking projects and more, presented entirely in the foreign language. Your child will learn to communicate actively in age-appropriate groups of 4-8 children. We track and communicate individual language learning progress regularly.

3 to 5 Years:

Programs meet once or twice a week and any of our eight Chicago area language centers .  We strongly recommend twice per week programs to accelerate language learning and provide maximum reinforcement of new structures and vocabulary.

5 to 8 Years:

Children’s programs in Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Mandarin Chinese meet once or twice a week. Where possible, we strongly recommend twice a week to reinforce language learning and skills.

8 to 10 Years:

While we always maintain our focus on developing speaking and listening skills, we also introduce reading and writing in our 8-10 year old classes, using fun, age-appropriate games and activities. The older children’s language learning programs meet once or twice a week. We strongly recommend the reinforcement of twice a week where possible.

Summer Foreign Language Camp

Your kids will have fun at summer camp and learn a second language as well.  Join us for fun and games every morning! Children ages 3½ to 8 years love our indoor and outdoor activities including water games, relay races, arts & crafts, cooking projects, treasure hunts and interactive snack time.  Choose from our five language programs: Spanish, French, Italian, German, or Mandarin Chinese.
