Discover Languages Month is an annual awareness campaign organized by The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (www.ACTFL.org). The ACTFL is the only national organization dedicated to the improvement and expansion of language learning, at all levels of instruction.
Through Discover Languages Month, the ACTFL focuses their efforts in several key areas including:
- Encouraging and supporting research on all aspects of language learning
- Raising public awareness about foreign language education through a sustained national media campaign
- Promoting and participating in the development of a national foreign language education policy
- Establishing a national foundation for language education innovation
- Supporting local efforts to raise awareness about the many benefits of foreign language education
