Courtney Glantz (October 17, 2011) - The other day Logan came up to me and declared that he wanted to say "thanks" and "you’re welcome" in Español in our home from now on. He told me those are his favorite Spanish words and he wants to be like Handy Manny and use them. Sounds like a plan to me! Anything to work on manners – even better if we’re working on the Espanol to go along with it.
He has been a lot better about remembering this whole plan than I have and will correct me from time to time if I use the English word instead. He also insists I’m not pronouncing "de nada" correctly and will slowly sound it out for me from time to time.
In my defense, I think I’m saying it perfectly fine. I just think he likes to play teacher. In his mind he definitely thinks he has a "one up" on me with this whole second language thing. And he’s totally right. I’m envious his young growing mind is exposed to Español week after week. To see words sticking and to see words in action in our home completely rocks.
Here’s to another week at Language Stars and hoping a few more words are added to his favorite list this week. "Azul" is starting to creep up there...
Adios!
Courtney
