This week at Language Stars it was "Parent Week," and I was so excited to get to observe L in the classroom. In my mind, very few things are cuter than seeing your preschooler speak in a 2nd language. Totally adorable.
The classroom was full of energy - mainly stemming from the completely enthusiastic teacher. Wow, I was impressed and TIRED just from watching her! Every single word and motion was completely exaggerated to the umpteenth degree to stress the meaning. It was incredible to watch and for the most part I knew exactly what was going on without knowing the language. Exactly the point.
Snack time was adorable as each kid had a "role" in passing out an item (cup, plate, napkin...etc). The routine would be each child would have to ask in Spanish if they would like a certain item. They would have to respond "yes, please" again in Spanish and then a "welcome" would be said. Working on manners and Spanish - love it!
For the last half hour or so we were ushered to the lobby to learn a bit more about where the teachers of Language Stars come from, which was very informative. The screening process, training process, and continuing career growth for each teacher and member of the Language Stars staff is top notch. Everyone is assigned a career coach, which I thought was so cool, to further develop their career while teaching in America. Many teachers return to their countries to teach at schools or open their own tutoring facilities. They are able to learn the business side of things with Language Stars and use that to their advantage when returning home.
Parent night ended with a progress report for each student which was nice to see. The progress for L, in my mind, is simply being exposed to this at his age. A+.
Thank you to Language Stars for a great Parent Week experience!
Adios for now,
Courtney
