If your kid is anything like mine it's hard to get a word out of them once you pick them up from school and/or activities. Maybe it's a boy thing, maybe its a my son thing, but the question 'how was class' is typically always followed by just a 'fine.' And lately he has tacked on 'mom, I just need some time to relax now.' Oooookay then.

I have mentioned to a few close people that I am blogging for Language Stars because frankly I need material to blog about. If all I'm getting out of Logan is a 'fine' after class that doesn't exactly help on the inspiration side of things for writing.

So, it was very helpful when my (awesome!) nanny had a great story for me one day after work. Her best friend was in town and she had cleared it with me for her to join them for a day. They took Logan to school and his play dates and enjoyed the toys around the house. One of the first things Logan did when sitting down to play with her is bust out his knowledge of the Spanish language. 'Do you know how to say blue in Spanish?' I do. 'Do you know the colors red and yellow?' I do. I also know how to say, 'please', 'thank you', and 'how do you say' in Spanish. He would then repeat everything in Spanish to validate he was correct.

My nanny got a kick out of this - she knows from dropping him off and picking him up at Language Stars from time to time how little he will speak about it but bring a cute new girl in the room and BAM! You've got yourself one little show off.

It's exciting to me out of all the things he could have done to impress her (write letters, numbers, show her his room, new toys...etc.) he went with the Spanish angle. And hey - why NOT? Being bi-lingual is SUPER impressive.

That is one big angle to play and will be sure to impress girls for years to come. Well done, L!

Adios!
