Courtney Glantz (February 5, 2012) - The other morning L and I were driving to preschool. It is tradition on the way to play a few songs from a CD I had made for us. We start our day with Rihinna's 'Umbrella' and then listen to the Plain White Tee's hit '1, 2, 3, 4.'
We sings parts here and there out loud but typically both chime in consistently for the chorus. All of a sudden during the Plain White Tee's song I hear 'uno, deux, uno, deux, tres, quatro' instead of the typical English numbers sang.
I chuckled to myself quietly and then I hear L pipe up from the back, 'I think the song sounds better in Spanish. Let's sing it that way.'
So we did, for the rest of the song. Anytime my memory would naturally go back to English of course I was corrected immediately from the backseat driver. 'Spanish mom, sing it in Spanish.'
I love little moments like this - how he thinks to incorporate Spanish words he is comfortable with into our day to day routine. It shows that stuff is sticking with him and that it's knowledge he wants to use. Love it!
Adios,
Courtney
