Courtney Glantz (August 26, 2011) - I'm not sure if you experience this with your child, but it happens with mine all the time. Perhaps it's a boy thing, perhaps it's a 'Logan' thing. Whenever I pick him up from school/lesson/sport he runs to me smiling like he has had the time of his life. I give him a huge hug, pile him in the car, and off we go to the next thing. Driving along I turn back to him and eagerly say 'so what did you all do? how was it?'

His response? 'Fine.'

Well...that's helpful. What wonderful material to work with for the Language Stars blog!

Hmmm...I knew I had to get creative here. Pushing for answers never worked with L, but what I have found is later in the day or during the following day little things will slowly emerge if I'm listening for it. The stuff that sticks with him comes out and I'm desperately hoping he'll deliver for me. As much as I can rave about the office staff and his teacher at the Barrington, IL location, (Brittany is wonderful to work with and greets each individual child with a huge smile) I am pretty sure that Logan's experience of 'fine' won't suffice for my bi-weekly writing.

We continue to roll along as I'm glancing over the lesson form I was given to take home. This week they learned about their home. Got it, noted. We pull onto our street and zip up to our house. Suddenly I hear a voice pipe up from the back: 'Mi Casa!' First of all, your child speaking in another language? Completely adorable. Secondly - YES Logan...you are totally right! I wanted to maul him for being so cute and smart at the same time. Not to mention he gave me a moment to write about - whew, crisis averted!

So thank you, Language Stars, for making a little moment like this happen. Your teaching style 'stuck' with Logan that day, enough for him to bring it up within 15 minutes of class time. Not bad.

Adios, Courtney
