Our CURRICULUM is organized around thematic units designed to facilitate practice of key vocabulary and functional language structures such as, My name is… I live in... I have a... and more.
Each unit focuses on a unique set of vocabulary and a functional structure:
- In Pre-Elementary programs, children focus on building topical vocabulary (such as counting, colors, and food) through simple songs and games.
- In Early Elementary Units, children begin with a focus on a targeted vocabulary list, and then learn to integrate it into the key structure, practicing over the course of the Unit. For example, they might begin with fun activities to learn the body parts, and then learn how to describe health (“My throat hurts,” or “I have a stomachache”) as they engage in skits, relay races and other interactive games.
- In Late Elementary, children practice using target vocabulary in the context of a key structure, with an emphasis on speaking skills, but adding an introduction to developing reading and writing skills in the target language.
- Your child’s program level (Pre, Early or Late Elementary) is indicated on his/her workbook cover!
