Pre-Elementary Programs

Language Stars offers a comprehensive, age-appropriate,unit-based curriculum starting at the Pre-Elementary level.

  • Our Pre-Elementary curriculum is organized around thematic units designed to facilitate practice of key Learning Topic vocabulary and functional language structures such as "My name is...," "I’m 4 years old...," "I have a...," and more. Each Pre-Elementary unit focuses on a unique set of vocabulary.
  • In Pre-Elementary programs, children focus on building this key vocabulary (such as counting, colors, and animals) in the context of a thematic unit (such as Clowning Around or On Safari).
  • Each thematic unit typically lasts 5 weeks, long enough for a group to learn, reinforce and digest the key concepts through a variety of lively games, activities and songs, including parachute games, bubble play, beanbag tosses, feltboards, puppet shows, and more!
  • Teachers use only the target language, supporting comprehension with dramatic gestures and facial expressions, and a variety of simple, bright visuals and manipulatives.
  • Teachers reinforce key words and phrases through rhythmic chanting, and clear, simple, consistent language, using focused repetition.
  • The Pre-Elementary Curriculum Guide Book details the key vocabulary, song, coloring and activity pages for each unit. This and our Student Center allow parents to follow along with their child’s progress.

From Our Schools...
"When we opened our new school in Fall 2008, parents requested foreign language classes. Budgetary constraints would not allow us to hire a foreign language teacher so we turned to Language Stars....Kids and parents love our Language Stars teachers, and our Spanish instructors are an important part of Edison Park's learning community!"
